These small plastecine sculptures were made following painted studies of piles of meat. I turned to sculpture as a way to sketch out ideas, to get a 3D sense of the forms I was trying to create. The outcome was a new set of innovative shapes I then used to inspire more painting. This molusk like creation was the most intriguing to me, combining bodily folds and bulges with perfectly meaty tones. This piece was the jumping off point for a series of paintings you can view here.
